A Day in the Life – Employee Stories

Our employee series #ADayintheLife explores the stories behind Allianz Asia team members across the region. Here, Allianz SCB Singapore Junior Business Development Manager Kenny Lee shares his experience:

The most interesting part of my job is that there is hardly a typical day. In my role, I’m responsible for co-creating marketing strategies and elements. I work closely with my colleagues from the Allianz Contact Centre to improve processes and ensure that all our campaigns are well implemented.

Apart from the daily tasks, my team is also busy with developing new initiatives and adding value to our products and services. We always try go the extra mile to identify and meet the needs of our customers so that they can enjoy a seamless end-to-end experience.

I decided to join Allianz as a graduate trainee upon the completion of my internship. During my internship, I was constantly challenged to see things from multiple perspectives and exposed to different management concepts. Allianz also gave me the opportunity to travel to Hong Kong to experience firsthand and learn from our colleagues working in the front line operations. It was a no-brainer to take up the job offer at the end of my internship.

At the same, it’s heartening to know that Ammon Mackie and Carlos Lozano from the management team of Allianz SCB Bancassurance started out their careers in similar fashion too. From there, they have had the opportunity to travel and work in different offices around the world. At Allianz, they value talent mobility and many processes have been put in place to support it.

When I was still a graduate trainee at Allianz, someone once told me, “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care”. I experienced this first hand at the beginning of this year when a customer wrote in to us to rectify an issue. A month later, the same customer returned to buy a separate motor insurance product from us. She shared that the incredible customer service recovery she had previously experience prompted her to do so without a second thought.

I believe empathy is a must to have at every level of a company. To put it simply, empathy breeds understanding. And when you devote the time to understand people, they will feel valued.

I’m proud to work for Allianz because of our people and the work culture. The name of a company is simply made up of alphabets but it’s the people in the company that gives meaning to the name. I particularly enjoy the daily interactions with my colleagues. The people here are always open-minded to new ideas and collaborative across the different business units.
